Mud House was established in 1996 and was named after a mud block-house built
in the founding vineyard. As well as reflecting its origin, the Mud House name also reflects its link to the earth,
where the wine begins.
Mud House was originally founded by an English couple, the Joslins, who retired in
2007 and sold 97% of The Mud House Wine Company to four New Zealand families. These four families offer various skills
and assets to the business.
The vineyards are nurtured to ensure the grapes reach optimum ripeness, varietal character
and flavour and the wine is then crafted to capture the essence of its origin.
